Old Town, Charles Bridge and Lesser Town

After the conference, participants are invited to join a relaxed walking tour through the historic centre of Prague.
The excursion is designed as an informal continuation of the conference, giving participants an opportunity to discover some of Prague’s most remarkable historical sites while continuing conversations and professional contacts in a less formal atmosphere.
The route passes through the most attractive parts of the Old Town and Lesser Town and includes several of the city’s best-known landmarks.
Powder Gate and Municipal House
The walk begins near the Powder Gate, one of the historic entrances to Prague’s Old Town.Next to it stands the Municipal House, one of the finest Art Nouveau buildings in Prague. Together, these two landmarks provide an impressive contrast between medieval Prague and the architecture of the early twentieth century.

From here, the group continues along Celetná Street, part of the historic Royal Route.
Celetná Street and the Old TownCeletná Street leads through the heart of the historic city towards Old Town Square.
This part of the walk offers an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Prague’s historic centre, with its narrow streets, old townhouses, towers and architectural details representing different periods of the city’s development.
Old Town SquareThe tour then reaches Old Town Square, one of the most important historic public spaces in Prague.
The square is surrounded by several major monuments, including the Old Town Hall, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the Church of St Nicholas, the Kinský Palace and the Jan Hus Monument.
Participants will have time to enjoy the square, take photographs and learn about its role in the political, religious and cultural history of Prague.Prague Astronomical Clock
One of the highlights of the Old Town is the famous Prague Astronomical Clock, located on the façade of the Old Town Hall.
Dating back to 1410, it is one of the oldest astronomical clocks in the world still in operation.
The clock provides an interesting connection between the history of Prague and the development of medieval astronomy, science and the measurement of time.
Whenever possible, the walk can be timed to coincide with the hourly procession of the Apostles.
Clementinum and the Historic Lanes of the Old TownFrom Old Town Square, the route continues through smaller historic streets towards the Clementinum.
This large Baroque complex has played an important role in the intellectual history of Prague and is closely connected with education, libraries, astronomy and scientific observation.
During this excursion, the Clementinum will be viewed mainly from the outside in order to preserve the comfortable pace of the walk.Charles Bridge
The route then reaches one of Prague’s most famous landmarks — Charles Bridge.
Crossing the Vltava River, the bridge connects the Old Town with the Lesser Town and offers impressive views of Prague Castle, the riverfront, historic towers and the surrounding cityscape.
Participants will have time to walk across the bridge at a relaxed pace and enjoy one of the most characteristic views of Prague.Kampa Island and Čertovka Canal
After crossing Charles Bridge, the group will continue to Kampa Island and the Čertovka Canal.
This quieter part of the historic centre offers a different perspective of Prague, with riverside views, small bridges, historic buildings and attractive views of Charles Bridge from below.
It is also an ideal part of the walk for informal conversation among conference participants.
Lesser TownThe final section of the excursion leads through the historic Lesser Town (Malá Strana).
The walk can conclude near Lesser Town Square, dominated by the impressive Baroque Church of St Nicholas.
From here, participants may continue independently to one of the nearby cafés or restaurants, or spend more time exploring the historic centre.Route
