War, Soil, and Freshwater Systems. Conference Prague, 15–17 October 2026
War, Soil, and Freshwater SystemsPrague, 15–17 October 2026
The 2026 conference is an international scientific meeting focused on the environmental and public health consequences of war-related pollution.
The central theme is the interaction between military activity, soil degradation, freshwater contamination, ecosystem disruption, and human health. The conference is designed for researchers, environmental specialists, medical and public health experts, institutional representatives, and professionals working with complex environmental risks.
This is not only a conference of presentations. It is a structured scientific process aimed at identifying research gaps, comparing evidence, and building a coherent framework for future interdisciplinary work.
Scientific Focus
The conference examines the war–pollution–soil–freshwater–disease nexus.
Key areas include:
● contamination of soils and freshwater systems;● environmental consequences of military activity;● public health risks linked to pollution exposure;● long-term ecosystem and food-system impacts;● monitoring, assessment, and risk modelling in crisis regions;● methodological challenges in interdisciplinary research.
The aim is to discuss these questions in a rigorous, evidence-based, and scientifically responsible manner.
Conference Format
The conference combines several formats:
● plenary presentations;● parallel thematic sessions;● oral presentations;● electronic poster presentations;● moderated scientific discussion.
On-site participation in Prague is intentionally limited to maintain a focused academic environment. Online participation provides wider international access and equal participation in the scientific program.
Scientific Organization
The conference is guided by Co-Chairs and a Scientific Committee with expertise in soil science, environmental studies, public health, interdisciplinary research, and the consequences of military activity.
Their role is to support academic quality, methodological rigor, and the coherence of the conference program.
Expected Outcomes
The conference is designed to produce more than individual presentations.
Expected outcomes include:
● clearer identification of scientific and methodological gaps;● stronger links between environmental and health research;● new international research connections;● development of future collaborative projects;● preparation of post-conference scientific publications.
The conference is part of a broader academic initiative that includes journal publication, a post-conference book volume, and long-term development of the Pollution and Diseases research platform.
Participation
Researchers and experts are invited to contribute original scientific work, analytical perspectives, case studies, and methodological proposals.
The conference welcomes both on-site and online participation. Accepted contributors will be able to participate in the scientific program and in the publication process according to the conference rules.
