This consultation helps clarify a research or archival problem and formulate principles for an information system suited to its investigation. It can begin with incomplete materials, disconnected observations or an unresolved question; a fully defined project is not required.
The discussion examines what is known, what remains uncertain, which sources are available and what prevents further progress. As the problem becomes clearer, the proposed scope, structure and research procedures are adjusted accordingly.
Based on the Scientific Recognition Architecture, the approach makes assumptions, evidence, interpretations and research decisions explicit and traceable. Possible applications include environmental research, archival work, translation, geographical identification and preparation of publications.
The aim is to develop an initial formulation of the problem, outline principles for organising the information system and identify practical next steps.
